Abstract

The Hugh J. Hansen Papers consist of materials pertaining to Hansen's career as a faculty member in the OSU Agricultural Engineering Department.

Scope and Content Notes

This collection includes correspondence, employment records, and photographs. The photographic images, roughly constituting 300 slides, prints and negatives in total, make up the bulk of the collection. In addition to the slide presentation "Wind Power as an Energy Source" (which includes a script and a tape) there are also images of various agricultural machinery and equipment as well as several portrait shots of Hansen.

Biographical / Historical Notes

Born in Minnesota in 1923, Hugh J. Hansen came to OSU in 1974 to assume the post of Manager of the Western Regional Agricultural Engineering Service. Hansen later served in the position of Extension Energy and Agricultural Engineer. Briefly serving as acting head of the Agricultural Engineering Department in 1986, Hansen retired in 1990. He died in 2001.
