Narrator: Pauling led a group trying a new tactic -- filing suits in Soviet, British and American courts to stop more testing because it would do genetic damage.

Linus Pauling: This is something that is so terrible a question, that every possible attack on it needs to be made. And I believe that to file these suits is one way of attacking the problem.

Narrator: The American Supreme Court refused to hear the case.
