Narrator: Narrator: The 1958 petition had not stopped bomb tests. France was on the verge of
exploding its own H-bomb. China was not far behind. Pauling helped launch another
petition in 1959, to stop the spread of nuclear weapons and move toward universal
disarmament. His new crusade took him around the world, with direct appeals to people.
