Transcript

Ava Helen Pauling:There is no doubt that the peace movement in the United States is weakened by the fact that the labor force does not take an active part in it, and they don't take part because they don't understand what the economic possibilities are with disarmament. What we need are some good economists who spend all of their time making plans as to how we can convert from a war-time economy to a peace-time economy. And there are economists who say that this can be done, and with profit to all of us. Even the scientists could be employed profitably in other ways.
