Circular medal with images of flask, stars, stripes, sickle with hammer and inscriptions: "Scientific Cooperation" and text in Russian, as well as letters inscribed inside flask: "NASUSA AHCCCP." Reverse side is inscribed: "NAS-AH CCCP 1959-1989, Linus Pauling 1989." Commemorates thirty years of cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences in the United States and the Soviet Academy of Sciences in the Soviet Union.
