why not write the mayor of the town who remember only too well the efforts for civilian protection in the last war.
The community chests may not appeal to you, as further solicitation through out the year is barred, but it would create a representative group of citizens, and if taken up, be on the minds and hearts of all solicitors and all citizens in such towns.
