J. Weingarten, Inc. Better Food For Less Office: 808 Prairie Avenue Houston, Texas May 25, 1946 Prof. Albert Einstein, Chairman, Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists, Princeton, New Jersey. Dear Professor: Your telegram of recent data addressed to my brother, Joe, has been placed on my desk for attention. Due to the fact that he is out of the city, and as matters of this kind are handled by us jointly, and inasmuch as I consider your request an urgent one, I am herewith enclosing check in the amount of $200.00, payable to the Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists. Frankly, I do not quite understand just how you and the committee intend to handle this fund, and for the exact purpose for which it is to be used, but my confidence in your personal integrity and ability, dispels all doubt that it is for a good and worthy cause. I should, however, like to know more about it and if you or some of your associates would drop me a line, I would greatly appreciate it. If further help is needed, do not hesitate to get in touch with me. With best wishes for the success of the campaign above referred to, and with kindest personal regards, I am Aw:b Very sincerely, Abe Weingarten For: Weingarten Welfare Corporation.
