F.R. vonWindegger President August 12, 1946

My dear Dr. Oram:

Thank you for your letter of August 1, regarding the National Committee on Atomic Information.

Of course, the Organization and purposes of the National Committee are well known to me, and have been from the beginning. What I deplore is that the literature being sent to the general public by that Committee is being slanted in opposition to world government, which as I understand it, is contrary to the thinking of your own Provisional Committee.

Specifically I see evidence that the Carnegie Group, through their employee Mr. Eichelberger, is neglecting no opportunity to oppose even the mild form of world government, such as possibly could be obtained by amendment of the United Nations Charter. Under these conditions, what you call "an informed public opinion" will have little opportunity to arise, since the public will be misinformed by the propaganda so insistently spread by the Carnegie Group. We hope that future releases by the National Committee will be on a more neutral basis.

Sincerely, [signature] F.R. von Windegger.

Dr. Harold L. Oram Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists Room 28, First National Bank Building 90 Nassau Street Princeton, N.J.
