WILLIAM I. SHORE COUNSELLOR AT LAW
155 WEST 20TH STREET NEW YORK 11, N. Y.
CHelsea 2-3065
July 14, 1947
Albert Einstein, Chairman, Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists, 90 Nassau Street, Princeton, N.J.
Dear Mr. Einstein:
I am enclosing a small contribution of $5.00 to aid you in your important work, of bringing to the people the terrible power of the new atomic weapons and to galvanize them into action to prevent the inevitable destruction of civilization as we know it - inevitable, if there should be another war. It is a pity - and a tragedy - that the brains which control the destiny of man are not as keen and objective in their work as the brains of the men who explore the realms of nature. Perhaps, the people can be awakened before it is too late. Let us hope and work so that they will.
Very truly yours, William I. Shore
