March 8 Recd Cleveland Public Library Cleveland 14 Ohio Members of the Board of Library Trustees Louis H Wieber President John H Rohrich Vice-President Dr Charles H Garvin Secretary William J Corrigan Mrs Winifred Fryer Mrs Robert H Jamison Stanley J Klonowski Edith Woodburn Clerk-Treasurer March 4, 1948 (sent cc of my ans to EA7 & sent metcalf response to my letter to EA7 3-18-48) Dr. Albert Einstein, Chairman Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists 112 Mercer Street Princeton New Jersey Dear Dr. Einstein: In the February number of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, there appeared a copy of an open letter to you from four Soviet scientists, also your reply. It seems to me that these letters have not had sufficient publicity. We, therefore, would like permission to extract these two items and publish them ourselves, and sell them for 5[cents] per copy. Is it possible that you can give us this privilege or shall we take it up with the officers of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists? Sincerely yours, Clarence S Metcalf Director
