(OSQA)

OSQA Mission ~ To preserve and share the stories, histories, and experiences of LGBTQ+ people within the OSU and Corvallis communities. OSQA was established in the Fall of 2014.

This mission is rooted in three central commitments:

OSQA Events

"Queering the Archives: Connecting with Your Local LGBTQ+ Communities"
A 2016 conference panel discussion focused on archival repositories dedicated to documenting and preserving the histories of LGBTQ+ communities.

OSQA Collections ~

University Records

Pride Center (RG 236) ~ Records documenting the establishment of the center and its programs and activities. All of Pride Center scrapbooks are available online.

OSU LGBTQ+ Community Film ~ A 40 minute documentary film by Kiah McConnell, 2015

Student Affairs (RG 102) ~ Accession 95:024 – Gay and Lesbian Association (GALA), 1991–1999

Associated Students of OSU (ASOSU), 1917–2006 (RG 11) ~ The records of the administration of student government and its interaction with other campus organizations and offices.

Manuscript Collections

Thomas Kraemer Speech and BlogHistory of OSU Gay Student Groups 1976–2006, as documented through a speech and blog by Thomas Kraemer. A digital copy of Corvallis, Oregon State University gay activism 1964-2002 is available via OSU's institutional repository ScholarsArchive

John Helding ~ an OSU alum who participated in a 1981 ASOSU vote to fund the Gay People's Alliance

Memorabilia Collection Files

Alumni – Contains clippings about former OSU and NFL football player Esera Tuaolo, who announced in 2002 that he was gay.

Circle of Friends – Constitution and announcements of this OSU faculty and staff organization.

Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Alliance – Newspaper articles and flyers pertaining to this student organization that awareness of LGBTQ issues. It is now known as the Rainbow Continuum.

Queer Resources Center – Newspaper articles pertaining to this center (now the Pride Center) that promotes awareness of issues around sexual orientation.
