The E. Roxie Howlett Collection consists of six issues of the Journal of Home Economics with annotations by Howlett. Howlett earned a BS in Home Economics from Oregon State College in 1945.

The E. Roxie Howlett Collection consists of six issues of the Journal of Home Economics with annotations by Howlett highlighting references to Oregon State College in the Journal. The collection includes the June 1948; March, May, and June 1950; and November and December 1951 issues of the Journal. The annotations describe Howlett's personal connections with home economists cited in the journal, her involvement with the Home Economists in Business (HEIB) group within the American Home Economics Association (AHEA), her student experience at Oregon State, and research studies by Oregon State faculty and graduate students that are featured in the Journal. The annotations are undated, but appear to have been made in the mid-2000s.

E. Roxie Howlett earned a BS in Home Economics at Oregon State College in 1945. Howlett held several home economics and public relations positions in California prior to establishing her own public relations firm, Howlett & Gaines, in San Francisco in 1968. The firm moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1989. Howlett was recognized for her leadership in public service within the field of public relations, for which she received the Public Relations Society of America's Paul Lund Public Service Award in 1992. In 1983, Howlett was the first woman president of the Public Relations Round Table of San Franciso and was one of the first female members of the Commonwealth Club of California. Howlett was an active volunteer in both public relations and home economics professional organizations as well as with community organizations in San Francisco and Portland. She maintained a strong connection with Oregon State and with other home economics alumni.

Ellen Roxie Frederickson was born March 28, 1924 in Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland in June 1941 and enrolled at Oregon State College the following fall. Roxie attended Oregon State for the 1941-1942 through 1944-1945 academic years and earned a BS in Home Economics in June 1945. By the mid-1950s, she had married John Howlett. She completed an MS at University of California at Los Angeles in the 1950s. E. Roxie Howlett died in 2013.
