Scope and Content Notes

The Wanda F. Hardin Fruits Memoir, Living the Dream, documents Fruits' experiences from 1946 through 1950 as a student at Corvallis High School and Oregon State College. In her memoir, Fruits describes her experiences living in Corvallis as a high school and college student; summer jobs picking fruit and working in agricultural fields; working as a fire lookout for the Douglas Forest Protective Association at Ward's Butte near Roseburg for several summers; living arrangements at the Heather Rae Cooperative House; and participation in activities at Westminster House. The memoir includes references to Fruits' coursework at Oregon State, her impressions of the Memorial Union, social activities, and her participation in a Vitamin C research study.

The memoir includes numerous reproductions of photographs depicting Fruits and her husband and family; fellow students and student activities; her work as a fire lookout; and Corvallis and campus scenes.
