Abstract

The Robert Crookham and Marjorie Enos Scrapbook contains materials collected by alumni Robert Crookham and Marjorie Enos that document their student experience at Oregon State College. Both Crookham and Enos studied business and earned undergraduate degrees in 1941 and 1944, respectively.

Scope and Content Notes

The Robert Crookham and Marjorie Enos Scrapbook contains materials collected by alumni Robert Crookham and Marjorie Enos that document their student experience at Oregon State College. In addition to newspaper clippings, the scrapbook contains buttons, dance cards, a decal, event programs, a grade report, greeting cards, letters, a menu for the College Inn's Panther Room, nametags, a napkin, newsletters, notes, photographs, ribbons, student papers, and ticket stubs. These materials reflect Crookham and Enos' membership and participation in Greek life (Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and Chi Omega Sorority), class work, Crookham's service scholarship for graduate studies at New York University, and Enos' attendance of campus activities and musical performances. The scrapbook also documents interaction between Crookham and Enos as a couple during their time at OSC, which is primarily illustrated in the notes and letters.

Biographical / Historical Notes

Born in 1919 and raised in Portland, Oregon, Robert Dauber Crookham graduated from Oregon State College in 1941 with a degree in Business. Crookham returned to Portland where he served in the Army at the Portland Air Base during World War II. After the war, he worked for the Wiggins Company, the family auto parts business. In 1948, he married Maxine Clark and together they raised two children, Susan and Kenneth. Crookham maintained ties with the OSU community through involvement with the OSU Alumni Association and participation in an annual summer camping trip that he started with a group of his fellow Phi Gamma Delta brothers/alumni. This annual tradition, which began in 1947, brought together Crookham's close-knit group of fraternity buddies and their families to a campout one weekend a summer. Crookham died in 2012.

Born in 1922, Marjorie Enos graduated from Oregon State College in 1944 with a degree in Business. After college, she worked in secretarial positions with the Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland and KPIX Radio in San Francisco. In 1953, she married Kenneth Guerrero and together they raised one son, Barry. Marjorie died in 2013.
