Scope and Content Notes

The collection contains emergency procedure manuals and other Traffic Division records related to parking on campus; material types include correspondence, reports, regulations, subject files, brochures, clippings, and related documentation. E-mail correspondence pertaining to visitor parking costs is also included. Policies and procedure statements from the following departments and offices are likewise held in the collection: Business Affairs, Public Safety, Student Affairs, Human Resources, International Education, Research Office, Affirmative Action, University Advancement, and University Archives. Materials documenting the 2008 Clery Act Report relating to campus crimes, the announcement of a campus Emergency Alert System, and a 2009 annual security report are also contained in this collection.

An addition to the Public Safety Records (Accession 2014:063) consists of a ledger containing entries recorded on a daily basis by Campus Police from May 15, 1964 to July 31, 1967. The entries contain brief descriptions by the reporting officer of campus incidents and the response that was taken. Most of the entries are marked with the words "normal duties" signifying that nothing of interest occurred during that shift. Among the activities and incidents reported in this log include: paper fires in dormitories, water fights, break-ins into campus buildings, burst pipes, escorts to the infirmary, indecent exposure, pigs loose in buildings, ambulance calls for students, and car accidents. After the last entry in the log, dated July 31, 1967, there is the following note: "this log abandoned in favor of radio log and police reports."
