Abstract

The Clara A. Storvick Papers consist of reprints of journal articles written or co-authored by Storvick, a Professor of Foods and Nutrition, as well as publications, research notes and other materials that she generated and collected.

Scope and Content Notes

The collection includes conference papers, a bibliography on vitamin B6 research articles, membership directories, photographs, two copies of Storvick's doctoral thesis, certificates, correspondence, employment records, newspaper clippings and a high school diploma. The publications, one book and one reprinted article, feature research by Storvick. Depicted in the photographs are subjects used in Storvick's doctoral work as well a colleague in a laboratory.

Pertaining primarily to Storvick's nutrition research, these records also relate to her employment with OSU, her receipt of awards and honors, her interaction with the professional community, and her retirement. Annual Christmas letters which detail personal and family events/news, and which are written by both Storvick and fellow housemate and nutrition researcher Margaret Fincke, are also included in this transfer.

Biographical / Historical Notes

Born in Minnesota in 1906, Clara Storvick came to Oregon State College in 1945 to assume the post of Associate Professor of Foods and Nutrition in the College of Home Economics. Specializing in the study of the effects of vitamin B6, Storvick served as Director of the Nutrition Research Institute from 1965 to 1972, becoming Professor Emeritus in 1972. She died in 2004.
