The Corvallis Fire Department Young America Engine Company No.1 Records document the establishment of the Corvallis, Oregon, fire department and the organization's social activities in addition to fire fighting.

Ledger book consists of the organization's constitutions, by-laws, rules of order, membership lists, and meeting minutes (1872-1880). A certificate of membership in the Young America Engine Co. No. 1 of the Corvallis Fire Department is also included in the collection. Minutes describe the various activities that the company engaged in.

The Corvallis Engine Company No. 1 was established on June 18, 1872 at a meeting at Fisher's Hall. The name of the company was changed later that year to Young America Engine Company No. 1. The organization appears to have had a social and benevolent function in addition to its fire fighting duties. The company was voluntary; members paid an initiation fee and dues at each meeting.
