Abstract

The Corvallis-Oregon State University Music Association Records consist of documentation of the administration of the association, meeting records, materials relating to the association's activities, and photographs.

This collection contains CDs that require migration to a digital format and are not immediately available for patron use. Please see SCARC's "Accessing Audo-Visual Content" policy for more information.

Scope and Content Notes

This collection includes concert programs, constitutions/bylaws, correspondence, tax records, annual funding requests to the Associated Students of OSU, press releases, lists of board membership, historical essays/narratives, meeting minutes, membership lists, a list of all the Association's concerts from 1948-49 to the 2002-03 season, and newspaper clippings. Also included are records of fundraising, concert publicity, and documentation of the dissolution process of the association as an incorporated organization in 2005. The photographs include a cd of scanned images of one group, and are primarily publicity stills of musicians booked by the association.

Biographical / Historical Notes

Incorporated in 1947, the Corvallis-OSU Music Association played its first season of concerts at the Corvallis High School auditorium before moving into its regular venue at Gill Coliseum, and later, to the Austin Auditorium at the LaSells Stewart Center. Among the artists who have performed under the auspices of the Association are: Marian Anderson, Isaac Stern, Yma Sumac, Yehudi Menuhin, Ferrante and Teicher and the Stockholm University Choir.
