Scope and Content Notes
The material in the collection relates to military correspondence concerning the Rogue River Indian troubles, beginning with a petition to Major Kearney from the citizens of Umpqua County in 1851. The correspondence is photocopied from material in the National Archives. Appended to some of the correspondence are maps of terrain and skirmishes. Also included are two letters between Weatherford and Ted H. Carlson, written in 1951.
