Abstract

The Esther Taskerud Papers consist of materials pertaining to Extension and 4-H, certificates and awards, and various other materials related to Esther Taskerud.

Scope and Content Notes

The collection includes speeches, correspondence, subject files, notes and clippings, memorabilia, photographs, committee records, 4-H materials and leader's guides, photographs of a dinner group (1987), a guest book, a china plate, an interview, and a portrait photograph of Taskerud (1964). The certificates and awards include the U.S. Department of Agriculture Superior Service Award (1958); a life membership certificate in Epsilon Sigma Phi, the national honorary extension fraternity; and a plaque from the 4-H Century Club. Other awards include those presented by South Dakota State University, Oregon State University, and other organizations.

Biographical / Historical Notes

Esther Taskerud began her work at Oregon State College as Assistant State 4-H Club Leader in 1947. She served as head of Home Economics Extension from 1963 to 1969 and retired in 1970. Taskerud earned a BS degree from South Dakota State University and an MA from Columbia University. She died in 1997.
