Abstract

The Dean E. Booster Papers consist of materials generated and collected by Booster, an Agricultural Engineering professor, pertaining to research into the development of a mechanized strawberry harvester.

Scope and Content Notes

Including committee records and reports from the Pacific Northwest Regional Commission and the Oregon Strawberry Council, the records in this collection consist of article reprints, conference papers, correspondence, meeting minutes, memoranda, newspaper clippings, photographs, progress reports, research notes and data, and studies. Coordinated through the OSU Agricultural Experiment Station, there are Station bulletins and special reports relating to Booster's research in these records. The photographs (253 color slides; 62 BW prints, 23 color prints, 39 BW negatives) depict the testing of strawberry harvesting equipment developed by Booster, "the Clipper Harvester," as well as the cultivation and industrial processing of strawberries.

Biographical / Historical Notes

Dean E. Booster attended OSU, graduating in 1956 with a master's degree in agricultural engineering. A year later, Booster was appointed to the position of Instructor in the Agricultural Engineering Department. In 1987 Booster became Professor Emeritus.
