The Harold W. and Charles H. Johnson Collection consists of materials documenting the student experiences and careers of father-and-son Oregon State alumni Harold William Johnson and Charles Harold "Woody" Johnson.
Materials reflecting the Johnsons' campus years include a 1923 commencement program, two orange-and-black-rooter lids, and a letterman's patch denoting Charles' involvement on the varsity crew team. The collection also includes a flyer and certificate documenting Harold Johnson's career as a school administrator and Charles Johnson's career as an engineer.
The five photographs in the collections are portrait images that depict Harold Johnson, Charles Johnson, Anita Johnson (Harold's wife), and Harold's college friends Frida, Martin, and Anna.
Harold William Johnson graduated from Oregon Agricultural College in 1923 with a degree in Industrial Arts. After graduation, he worked for the Emeryville, California, School District from 1925 until 1964, serving as a teacher, principal, and eventually as superintendent of the district. Harold and his wife Anita raised two children, Charles and Barbara. Harold Johnson was born in Minnesota in 1899 and died in California on November 5, 1984.
Born in 1932, Charles Harold ("Woody") Johnson earned undergraduate degrees in engineering and business from Oregon State College in 1957 and 1958. He lived and worked as an engineer in California. Charles Johnson died in 2007.
