Abstract

The Hattie Hanna and George B. Hovenden Collection consists of materials pertaining to these almuni including commencement programs, diplomas, newspaper clippings, photographs and a handwritten draft of George's graduation speech.

Scope and Content Notes

The collection includes portraits of Hattie and George, as well as photographs of fellow classmates: William Yates, Lillian Glass, Edgar Grimm, and S. G. McCann.

Biographical / Historical Notes

Hattie Hanna graduated from Corvallis Agricultural College in 1880. Her father, J. A. Hanna, founded the Presbyterian Church in Corvallis.

Graduating in 1883, George B. Hovenden worked in the piano business in Portland, Oregon for over three decades. He died in 1932.

Hattie and George were married in 1893.
