Ina Heumann graduated from the University of Vienna in 2010 and studied Modern and Recent History at Humboldt University Berlin. In 2009 she was a Pre-doctoral Research Fellow with the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin, Department III: Experimental Systems and Spaces of Knowledge. Her dissertation, titled "Popular Practices. Styles of Science Communication in International Comparison, 1945-1984," examined two scientific publications; Bild der Wissenschaft, established in West Germany in 1964 and Scientific American, established in New York in 1948.
