Harvey L. McAlister Collection

Harvey L. McAlister Collection, 1805-1950

The Harvey L. McAlister Collection consists of materials assembled by McAlister pertaining to the first Oregon Agricultural College (OAC) football teams in the mid 1890s and the Spanish American War as well as photographs of the OAC campus and students in the 1890s. McAlister played on the first OAC football team in 1893 and graduated with a degree in agriculture in 1897. He was a farmer in Lexington, Oregon, until he retired in 1947.

Douglas and Mabel McKay Papers, 1905-2014

The Douglas and Mabel McKay Papers document Douglas McKay's student years at Oregon Agricultural College (OAC), his military service during World Wars I and II, and his political career. Douglas McKay graduated from OAC in 1917 with a BS in Farm Crops and married Mabel Christine Hill that same year. McKay was a successful businessman and politician, serving as an Oregon State Senator, Oregon Governor, and Secretary of the Interior in the Cabinet of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Sigurd D. Medhus Papers, 1947-1949

The Sigurd D. Medhus Papers consist of materials generated and assembled by Medhus documenting his student years at Oregon State College from 1946 to 1950, especially his membership in the Delta Upsilon fraternity, activities as a yell leader and member of the rally squad, and military training in the Air Force ROTC summer camp at Hamilton Air Force Base. Medhus earned a BS in Business and Technology from Oregon State in 1950.

Jimmie Morris Papers, 1920-2008

The Jimmie Morris Papers reflect Morris' life-long interest in broadcasting, his decades of service to KOAC radio and television, and the broader evolution of the station itself. The collection is particularly strong in its documentation of the emergence of television as a tool for statewide education, a development that came about after much debate in the mid-1950s. An Oregon Agricultural College graduate, Morris was on the staff of KOAC from 1932-1963 and is the author of a history of the station, The Remembered Years..., published in 1972.
