The Extension Family and Community Health Program develops educational workshops and programs for Oregonians to promote healthy communities, healthy families, and healthy individuals. These activities address food preservation and storage, food safety, and healthy eating; parenting, family finances, gerontology, and healthy aging; and food security, emergency preparedness, and rural leadership. Family and Community Health is a program of the Oregon State University Extension Service within the College of Public Health and Human Sciences. The Program was formerly known as Family and Community Development. Many of these issues and topics have been addressed by the Extension Service in Oregon, since its establishment in 1911.
