Scope and Content Note
The Student Involvement Records consist of materials generated and assembled by the unit and include annual reports, brochures, budgetary records, buttons, correspondence, flyers, handbooks, meeting minutes, newsletters, newspaper clippings, notes, photographs, publications, student group rosters, and a sound recording. Outreach programs documented include Eager Beaver, Odyssey, and Passport to Student Involvement. In addition to reflecting the administration of Student Involvement, these files document interactions among Student Involvement staff, student organizations, and cultural centers; event planning; office space remodels; involvement in coursework and leadership training office; policies and procedures; and budget preparation.
The Associated Students of OSU (ASOSU) materials pertain to ASOSU retreats, student body elections, the Oregon Student Association, and incidental student fee budgets.
The photographs depict a staff retreat, the Student Involvement office area after a remodel in 2003, OSU cultural centers and various events sponsored by student organizations. The sound recording is a reel-to-reel tape of a 1975 public hearing on the freshman housing requirement.
An addition to the Student Involvement Records (Accession 2012:070) consists of records generated by the Student Activities Committee (SAC) that are made up of bylaws, constitutions, correspondence, meeting minutes, membership rosters, notes, publications, sound recordings, and a VHS videotape. Reflecting SAC's primary function as the administration of OSU student organization social and educational activities, these records document SAC's review of proposals for new student organizations, the approval of constitutional revisions, and the addressing of policy violations (mostly events involving minors and alcohol). Numbering six cassette tapes, the sound recordings document disciplinary hearings between SAC and student organizations found in violation of university regulations. The videotape is a recording of an SAC training session about judicial procedures from 2000.
