Dear Dean Raulston:
I am pleased to learn from your letter of September 13 that Dr. Lipkis has given
quantities of oxypolygelatin to ten or twelve patients, with satisfactory results.
It is my understanding that Dr. Lipkis plans to administer the material to a
second group of ten or twelve patients and to obtain further blood samples, in accordance
with his discussion with Dr. Campbell. I believe that it would be desirable to restrict
the investigation to about this number of patients, until a survey has been made of
the results obtained. Consideration could then be given to the question as to whether
or not to prepare another large oxypolygelatin preparation for further investigation.
Cordially yours,
Linus Pauling
