Dear Chad:

The enclosed letter, marked No. 1, is written on paper treated by our process. Would you be able to have a thorough examination made of it, and to let us know the results?

This first trial is an easy one. We would like to have advice as to what to do next, on the basis of your results with No. 1.

We are keeping a duplicate of No. 1 here, for inspection later.

Cordially yours,

Linus

P.S. How long must we wait to learn the results? L.P.

Dear Chad:

I have waited to write to you to tell you that I am grateful to you for having invited me to come to your office in August. Nothing that I have done for a long time has given me so much pleasure.

It would be fine if you could come to Pasadena for a visit - especially if you find it necessary, to obtain further information.

Cordially yours,

Linus Pauling
