Linus Pauling and the Race for DNA: A Documentary History was originally launched in commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the discovery of the double-helix on February 28, 2003. A significant trove of additional content was added and released on February 16, 2009. The website is a product of the Oregon State University Libraries Special Collections: Cliff Mead, Head of Special Collections; Chris Petersen, Faculty Research Assistant; Ryan Wick, Information Technology Consultant.

The website narrative was written by Tom Hager and its graphic identity was created by Eric Arnold. The OSU Libraries Digital Access Services Department likewise provided assistance with the creation of metadata for many of the digital images presented on this site.
