  • Letter from Russ Nixon to LP and AHP, RE: Nixon hopes that LP and AHP will be able to accept Dr. Yasui's invitation to attend the World Peace Conference being held in Japan this summer. However, Nixon wants to alert the Paulings to the fact that there is a very serious split in the Japanese peace movement. The conflict, which Nixon describes in detail is mainly between the Socialists and the Communists. Nixon feels that American participants in the Conference should be aware of this situation in order to avoid being caught in the middle of the conflict. Nixon has great sympathy for Yasui, who Nixon believes is doing his best to minimize this conflict and maintain unity within the Japanese peace movement.
