    Miss Beatrice Kornitzer

    Assistant Secretary

    The Faraday Society

    London, W.C.1., England

    Dear Miss Kornitzer:

In your letter you have said that the Banker's Order on Barclays Bank Ltd., Oxford, which I sent to you has been returned with a note "No account at High Street, Oxford.”

On reference to my records, I find that I have an account in Barclays Bank, Ltd., 54 Cornmarket Street, Oxford.

I have heard about the inefficiency of British banks, and have already experienced it with Barclays Bank on two earlier occasions. I am not surprised that Barclays Bank at High Street, Oxford, is unable to enter into communication with Barclays Bank at Cornmarket Street, Oxford.

I am sorry that you should have been put to extra trouble.

    Sincerely yours,

    Linus Pauling:hpg
