Letter from Linus Pauling to Detlev Bronk. October 22, 1951

Pauling writes and asks for jobs to do from the National Academy of Science, National Research Council, or other organization while he and Ava Helen make their trip to Madrid, Spain; Athens, Greece; Cairo, Egypt; India; Bangkok, Thailand; Hong Kong; and Tokyo, Japan after the Government of India invited him for a visit. He would especially like a job in Japan due to their work on the structure of crystals and proteins with the use of x-rays, though he must first get permission from the Military Occupation authorities. He also says that he will not be attending the National Academy of Sciences meeting in November due to a slowed recovery of the influenza he caught in September and the desire to be well enough to make his around the world trip.  View Transcript
