Linus Pauling Note to Self [re: revoked invitation to speak at a University of Hawaii chemistry building dedication]. May 26, 1951

Pauling writes a note to himself with several unfinished thoughts, all regarding the revoked invitation to speak at the University of Hawaii. He mentions Shurei Hirioza and the Honolulu Star Bulletin with a date and time. He also mentions Hugh Lytle with a date and time. He writes a note to Lytle saying that he would have agreed with University of Hawaii Regents had they not spoken to the press before they spoke with him. He also writes that he believes that a hydrogen bomb could be made but did not finish the rest of that train of thought. He writes that he felt that the University of Hawaii Board of Regents made the wrong decision in revoking their invitation and in refusing to reconsider the invitation. He likewise mentions writing one of the members whom he thought would be open to hearing his side, but he was mistaken.  View Transcript
