Letter from Linus Pauling to William T. Astbury. March 15, 1945Pauling sends Astbury two sets of eleven hand-punched cards. He explains that Caltech lacks access to a duplicating machine, making it difficult to easily create cards in large quantities. He states that the cards provided to Astbury were hand punched and, as a result, may contain errors. He informs Astbury that a description of the least squares method has not yet been written, but notes the Caltech researchers intend to publish multiple papers on the use of punch-card machines by late 1945.
