    Mr. J. D. Ratcliff

    60 West 48th Street

    New York, New York

    Dear Mr. Ratcliff:

Our antibody work, while moving along slowly, has not made very much progress since I saw you. I now have hopes that the experiments will give a decisive answer during the coming few months, and I suggest that you write to me in, say, December. I trust that by that time we shall be able to give you the "go ahead" signal.

    Sincerely yours,
    Linus Pauling
