Because of the use of the calculating machines by a number of people and some resultant confusion, it has been found necessary to arrange that all work be done under supervision of an authorized person. In order that I may make such an arrangement, I request that you send me a detailed statement about the calculations which your men are making, including their nature and the fund or project of which they are a part, and an estimate of how much work, you expect to want done in the future. I shall let you know about necessary new arrangements when I get back to Pasadena next week.
