Letter from Linus Pauling to Hugh S. Taylor. February 7, 1938

Pauling discusses Taylor's suggestion of using the term "conjugation energy" rather than "resonance energy." Pauling argues the term "conjugation energy" cannot be as widely applied as Taylor suggested and, in many ways, the use of the term would neither enhance nor simplify understanding of resonance energy. He concludes by thanking Taylor for his hospitality during Pauling's visit to Princeton.  View Transcript
