The William Evans Lawrence Photographs consist of images, primarily color slides, taken by Lawrence of various locations in Oregon, California, and Nevada and three log books describing the images. Lawrence was a faculty member in botany and plant ecology at Oregon State College from 1910 to 1947; he spent the 1942-1943 academic year on sabbatical in California.

The William Evans Lawrence Text consists of a mimeographed volume, Studies in Plant Ecology, that was prepared by Lawrence in 1942 for use in botany classes at Oregon State College. The Special Collections & Archives Research Center's holdings include several collections of color slides made in the 1940s-19450s, including the Robert W. Henderson (P 098), Wilson H. Foote (P 268), and Jean W. Scheel (P 279) Photographs.
