The Oregon Century Farm & Ranch Program began in 1958, just prior to the celebration of Oregon's statehood centennial in 1959, to honor farm and ranch families with century-long connections to the land and to recognize Oregon's rich agricultural heritage. The program introduced a Sesquicentennial Award in 2008, on the eve of Oregon's 150th anniversary. As of 2010, 1,117 families have received the Century designation and 22 families have been honored with the Sequicentennial award.
The Oregon Century Farm & Ranch Program is administered by the Oregon Agricultural Education Foundation and is supported in part by a partnership of the Oregon Farm Bureau, the State Historic Preservation Department, the Oregon Department of Agriculture, the Oregon Historical Society, and the Oregon Travel Information Council.
