Oral Histories of the James Cant Ranch (John Day Valley, Oregon), 1982-1985

The Oral Histories of the James Cant Ranch are comprised of interviews with fifteen individuals that tell the story of James and Elizabeth Cant's successful agricultural operation - established in northeast Oregon on the John Day River in the early 1900s - and of rural agricultural life in the region where the Cant Ranch was located. The Cant family raised irrigated crops and livestock for over sixty years on a tract of land that came to encompass over 11,000 acres. In 1975 the Cant Ranch complex was purchased by the National Park Service for incorporation into the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument.

Othniel R. Chambers Papers, 1922-1951

The Othniel R. Chambers Papers document Chambers' graduate education at Ohio State University and his teaching and research as a faculty member at Oregon State College. They include lectures and related materials for radio presentations; class notes; and publications. Chambers earned his Ph.D. in psychology from Ohio State in 1926; he was professor and head of the Oregon State Psychology Department from 1929 until 1951.

The CH2M Hill, Inc. Oral Histories document the evolution of the CH2M Hill engineering firm through the lens of personal histories of its principal founders and longtime employees. The collection consists of recordings and transcripts of interviews with seven individuals crucial to the creation, growth and character of the firm, as well as extensive background information compiled by the project's managers, employees of the Horner Museum.

The Ava Milam Clark and Jesse C. Clark Photographic Collection consists of personal photographs taken or collected by Ava Milam and Jesse C. Clark, most notably an album from Ava Milam's 1948 trip to China and Japan. Milam served as Dean of the School of Home Economics at Oregon State College from 1917 until 1950; she married Jesse Clark in 1952.

The Counseling and Psychological Services Records consist of reports, announcements, and research publications documenting the activities of the office and Oregon State University students. The Counseling and Testing Bureau was established at Oregon State in 1946 to provide services to World War II veterans; services were expanded to all Oregon State students in 1948.

The Oregon State University Cultural Centers Oral History Collection consists of interviews conducted with undergraduate and graduate student staff members of OSU's Native American Longhouse. Documented within the collection are interviewees' thoughts on working in the Longhouse, the purpose and future direction of the cultural center, and negotiating life as a student of color at OSU. The Native American Longhouse was established in 1971; a new longhouse facility was dedicated in 2013.
