A. Grace Johnson Collection, 1918-1933

Scope and Content Note

The A. Grace Johnson Collection consists of bulletins, circulars, and manuals assembled by Johnson to support her teaching and study in household administration. The publications address family budgets, thrift education, and the tracking of household expenses; several of the publications include annotations by Johnson. The materials were published by Cornell University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the American Home Economics Association as well as banks and businesses.

The collection also includes Extension Bulletin 313, Kitchen Arrangement, written by Johnson in 1920, as well as drawings for a barrel system for hot and cold water in the kitchen published by the Oregon Agricultural College Extension Service in 1922.

An O.S.C. Student Account Book for documenting expenditures, published by the Co-op. Book Store, is part of the collection. It is partially completed, perhaps as a class assignment for the Household Management course (HAd 340) in spring 1933.
