The College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences Motion Picture Films and Videotapes consist of moving images recorded and assembled by the College, primarily for instructional use. The collection includes films pertaining to oceanographic research, deep water drilling, and offshore oil and gas operations; videotapes of meterology lectures; and videotapes of marine resource management seminars on the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill and Pacific Northwest fisheries. Oceanography research began at Oregon State College in 1954 and the School of Oceanography was established in 1972. Content from this collection has been digitized and made available online.
