James Thompson (Tommy) Prothro coached the Oregon State football team for ten seasons (1955-1964) and led the team to 3 bowl games (the 1957 and 1965 Rose Bowls and the 1962 Liberty Bowl). Dee Andros succeeded Prothro and was head football coach for Oregon State University for the 1965-1975 seasons. He served as Oregon State's athletic director from 1975 until his retirement in 1985.
