Joseph S. Butts Papers, 1931-1971

Dr. Joseph S. Butts, 1947. Butts was a professor of Agricultural Chemistry from 1939-1961 and Department Head from 1946-1961. A focus of his interest was utilizing atomic energy for peaceful means.

The Joseph S. Butts Papers consist of research data, laboratory notebooks, and reprints of scientific publications documenting the biochemistry and agricultural chemistry research of Butts as a graduate student and professor at the University of Southern California in the 1930s and as a faculty member at Oregon State College. Butts was a faculty member at Oregon State from 1939 until his death in 1961.
