Academy for Lifelong Learning Records, 2001-2014

Scope and Content Note

The Academy for Lifelong Learning Records document the course offerings and operations of the Academy for Lifelong Learning and its affiliations with the Oregon State University (OSU) Alumni Association and the OSU Retirement Association. The records include course catalogs and class records, including registration, attendance, equipment needs, course goals, and instructors. Operational records include financial reports, membership lists, Advisory Council and Curriculum Committee minutes, and procedures. Signed agreements with the OSU Alumni Association and the OSU Retirement Association are part of the records. Promotional materials include brochures, newspapers clippings, and historical outlines. The correspondence pertains to board retreats, interactions between the Academy and the Alumni Association, and publicity.

An addition to the Academy for Lifelong Learning Records (Accession 2010:042) is made up of annual reports, correspondence, course catalogs, fliers, meeting minutes, membership lists, publications, survey materials, treasurer's reports, and two DVDs. The publications consist of local newsletters and event brochures that contain ads for ALL and stories about their classes. The DVDs contain film footage of a panel presentation given in January 2010 by four of the founders of ALL (Jean Peters, Cliff Trow, Emery Castle, Paul Dickey). In addition to describing the historical development of ALL, the speakers also talk about the mission of the organization and its relationship to the OSU Retirement Association.

A second addition to the Academy for Lifelong Learning Records (Accession 2012:023) is made up of budgetary information, a cd, correspondence, meetings, membership rosters, newspaper clippings, photographs, procedural handbooks, schedules of classes, and treasurers' reports. These materials were found compiled together in notebooks organized by the following years: 2002/03; 2009/10; and 2010-2011. The cd contains electronic files of sign-up lists, membership rosters, Powerpoint presentations, financial information, forms, meeting minutes, forms, and flyers. The images depict views from ALL sessions on the history of Peavy Arboretum and West African art and culture.

A third addition to the Academy for Lifelong Learning Records (Accession 2014:057) consists of a notebook compiled by the ALL chair reflecting the group's administrative activities and course offerings during the 2012-2013 academic year. In addition to meeting minutes from various ALL committee and councils, this transfer is made up of a cd, contracts, course catalogs, policy/procedure statements, publications, and treasurer's reports. Two letters by President Ed Ray to ALL are also part of this accession. Both documents concern the passing of Ray's wife, Beth.
